Daily Bible Reading – May 2022 God’s Renewing Word of PromiseNäide

May 21
Introduction
Samuel confronts Saul with his sin of disobedience, and the LORD rejects Saul as king.
Scripture Reading
1 Samuel 15:10-35
Today’s Key Verse:1 Samuel 15:29
[Samuel said:] “Israel’s majestic God does not lie or change his mind. He is not a human being — he does not change his mind.”
Reflect
How does Saul rationalize his failure to obey the commands he was given (verses 15, 21)? Samuel tells Saul that it is better to obey God than to offer sacrifices (verse 22). Why has the LORD rejected Saul as king (verse 23)? What does Saul ask of Samuel (verses 24, 25, 30)? What are your thoughts about the readings for today and yesterday?
Pray
Glorious and majestic God, teach me to obey you and to serve you faithfully. Forgive me when I disobey and fail to act in accord with your will. In your mercy restore me to a right relationship with you. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
1 Samuel 16:1-23: David is anointed king.
