Prayer Is Not a Wishing Well
Another prayer mistake is seeing prayer as a medium of expressing our wishes to God. The picture this notion paints is throwing a coin down a water fountain and making a wish and hoping that it comes true. Prayer is not just about getting our desires realized, but it is about fellowship with God so that He is fully formed in us and His desires will become ours. Jesus said if we abide in Him and His Words abide in us, we will ask what we wish, and it will be done unto us. Prayer is not about asking alone, but it is about abiding in Christ daily.
