Should Christians Work on the Sabbath?Näide

The Application of the Sabbath
“[Jesus said]...Yes, the law permits a person to do good on the Sabbath.” Matt 12:12b NLT
I am so grateful for Jesus’ clear statement that it is okay for us to “do good” on the Sabbath. Jesus’ life and ministry exemplify this as he healed people on the Sabbath. Even in Matthew 12, he explains God’s heart about this day of rest with an example about a sheep falling in a pit. Any livestock owner is going to pull their stranded animal out. How much more valuable are you to God than a sheep to their master?
I caution us as Christians to avoid the temptation to accuse people of dishonoring the Sabbath according to some set of rules you keep in your mind about what’s “acceptable activity” and what’s not. We are not under the Jewish law but under God’s abundant grace.
Yes, we are to regularly stop working, rest, and center our hearts and lives on God’s completed work for us on the Cross. God rested prior to the law and He instructed His children to honor a Sabbath day prior to the law.
But, we are not free to judge one another on the details of what this looks like in your family versus another (Rom 14:5). Paul clearly instructs us:
“What’s important in all this is that if you keep a holy day, keep it for God’s sake.” Rom 14:6 MSG
Honor God by setting limits on your work, then trusting Him to make six days, plus a Sabbath even more fruitful than seven in your own strength.
