Day 3: Focus
Without wishing to negate what I said yesterday, today seems a bit more 'grown up'. Yesterday was about the Lord's discipline, which we don't grow out of this side of eternity. Today, however, is more about taking responsibility.
Last year my wife and I agreed that verse 25 needed to be my motto for this year, because I am naturally and easily distracted. Verse 25 is all about staying focused.
We might be tempted to be fatalistic, to 'let go and let God', but God's Word doesn't allow for that. We still have to take responsibility for our lives. It's okay to plan, as long as we just 'pencil things in' rather than trying to 'set them in stone'.
Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. So, if we want to tame our tongues, we need a spiritual heart transplant by God to transform us from being polluted springs into becoming refreshing streams who speak God's words of life to those around us.
'Glorious God, please help us to focus upon You and Your worthiness in our lives. Please forgive us for being so easily distracted, for the sake of Christ, amen.'
Do you struggle with focus? Consider how you can become more focused.
