It is often hardest for us to see the Lord and hear His Word when we are in the midst of troubling circumstances. Remembering how the Lord has delivered and rescued us through past hardships and difficulties helps to put us in a posture of thankfulness and worship so that we can trust Him no matter what circumstance we face in the present. We can be thankful that He has not left us alone. He has gifted us with the Bible, His love letter to us, and the Holy Spirit, our Teacher and Comforter. He has also gifted us with godly friends and spiritual mentors and leaders for fellowship and encouragement. We are never alone in suffering. What is your response to troubling circumstances? Will you press on and stretch to see God’s hand even at your lowest? Father God, I thank You for Your intimate presence with me, no matter what I’m going through. Lord, when pain and sorrow overwhelms me, turn my thoughts towards You. When tears sting my eyes, turn my thoughts toward Your past deliverances and miracles in my life. Help me to praise You in the midnight hour even when it is in the midst of sadness. Thank You for never leaving me or forsaking me, not even for a moment. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
