We’re not fighting against human beings, but against the rulers, authorities, and powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly world.

Pray in the Spirit at all times, making all kinds of prayers and requests. Stay alert and always keep praying for all the Lord’s people.

Put on all of God’s armor so that you can fight back against the devil’s tricks.

So put on all of God’s armor, so that when evil days come, you’ll be able to stand up to anything. After you’ve done everything you can, you’ll still be standing.

Also, carry the shield of faith, because with it you can put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Put on the helmet of salvation, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

So stand firm, buckle the belt of truth around your waist, put the armor of godliness on your chest, and wear on your feet the readiness to share the good news of peace.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Scripture says, “Honor your father and mother.” That’s the first commandment that has a promise: “Then things will go well with you, and you’ll live a long time on the earth.”

Children, obey your parents as a way of obeying the Lord. That’s the right thing to do.
