Follow God’s example, as children that he loves dearly, and follow the path of love. That’s what Christ did. He loved us and gave himself up for us as a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God.

So be very careful how you live. Don’t live as people who aren’t wise; live as people who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

Don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to wild living. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So don’t be foolish. Instead, understand what the Lord wants.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

You used to be darkness, but now you’re light in the Lord. Live as children of the light.

Follow one another’s lead out of respect for Christ.

Wives, follow the lead of your own husbands as a way of following the Lord’s lead.

But the point remains that a husband must also love his wife, just as he loves himself, and a wife must respect her husband.

Scripture says, “That’s why a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one.”

and don’t have anything to do with the acts of darkness. They never produce anything good. Show what those acts are really like.
