Biola University's Center for Christianity, Culture & the Arts is pleased to share the 2024 Advent Project, a daily devotional series celebrating the beauty and meaning of the Advent season through art, music, poetry, prayer, Scripture, and written devotions. The project starts on the first day of Advent and continues through Epiphany. Our goal is to help individuals quiet their hearts and enter into a daily routine of worship and reflection during this meaningful but often hectic season. Our prayer is that the project will help ground you in the unsurpassable beauty, mystery and miracle of the Word made flesh.

The Chosen and BibleProject designed this plan to help individuals and groups reflect on the surprising identity of Jesus and the nature of the Kingdom of God, as presented in the gospels. This 7-day plan incorporates clips from season 5 of The Chosen, BibleProject animated videos, summaries, reflection questions, and Scripture readings. Choose this plan to explore themes like justice, prayer, status, and death in Jesus' final week in Jerusalem.

Preparing for Christmas takes on many different forms for us all. Although we might become entangled by the flurry of decorating, family, cooking, or wrapping gifts, we must not miss the true celebration. Since the sixth century, Advent has served as a time of preparation for the event of Christmas. It reminds us to prepare our hearts as well as our homes for the glorious celebration of Christ’s birth. The hymn writer said, “Let every heart prepare Him room.” Truly, we must set aside time and make room for the Prince of Peace to reign in our busy lives. He alone is the One who brings true hope, love, joy, and peace.

On Christmas morning, we can feel excited when we see a large, beautiful box under the tree . . . but sometimes, the most magnificent gift is the one that’s small and plainly wrapped. Journey with us over the next eight days as we explore how Jesus, the best gift ever, came to Earth in the most unexpected way.

When Jesus was born into human existence, it was the most epic interruption to human history that has ever happened. God loves us enough to punctuate history in human skin; not as a king, president, or noble warrior, but as a helpless newborn.
