Have you ever been really uncomfortable around someone? Maybe they smelled, dressed funny, talked offensively, or maybe they threatened your comfort and security?

In the passage we are going to look at today, we see Jesus show up in a way that would have made many uncomfortable. It was not uncommon for the sick and debilitated to come to Jesus for healing; this was part of His ministry. After all, when Jesus Changes Everything, everyone wants in on the party! But the way He changes everything in this story is risky. You see, the man Jesus encounters in this story is a leper. Leprosy was a skin disease that was very contagious and made you "unclean." As a matter of fact, in those days, a leper was required to yell out: "unclean" whenever he entered the presence of others.

Yet, in this passage, we see Jesus reach out his hand, touch the unclean man and declare, "Be clean". Did you catch what Jesus did here? Can you imagine the power in this simple action of touching? Jesus didn't just heal this man, He touched him. This may have been the first time in decades that this man felt another person touch him! Jesus didn't just touch the unclean man though; Jesus made him clean! Jesus is so perfect, so righteous, so clean, that He is the cleaner! As John declares, "The light was coming into the world and the darkness cannot overcome it!."
