Walking With JesusMuestra

Holiness and the Fear of God
The character trait of God that is most emphasised in the Bible is His holiness. To be holy means to be set apart or to be different. As disciples, we must live lives that are separate from the world and dedicated (set apart) unto God. We have a responsibility to live like Jesus lived.
With holiness comes sanctification. We are sanctified by the following:
- The blood of Jesus. (Hebrews 13:12)
- The Word of God. (John 15:3)
- The working of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:16)
When we understand that God is a holy God, we also begin to fear Him.
This fear does not mean that we are terrified of the Lord, but that we have a holy awe and respect for who God is. The fear of the Lord makes us want to draw closer to God, not run away from Him.
Reflection questions (write your answers in a journal):
- What do you think made Jesus different from other people?
