Mordecai’s Fame
1King Ahasuerus imposed a tax throughout the land#Est 1:1; 8:9 even to the farthest shores.#10:1 Or imposed forced labor on the land and the coasts of the sea#Is 11:11; 24:15 2All of his powerful and magnificent accomplishments#Est 1:4 and the detailed account of Mordecai’s great rank with which the king had honored him,#Est 8:15 have they not been written in the Book of the Historical Events of the Kings of Media and Persia?#Est 2:23; 6:1–2 3Mordecai the Jew was second only to King Ahasuerus.#Gn 41:40–43; 2Ch 28:7; Est 8:15; Dn 5:7 He was famous among the Jews and highly esteemed by many of his relatives.#Est 8:16–17 He continued to pursue prosperity for his people and to speak for the well-being of all his descendants.#Neh 2:10
