Day 2: Finding Your Identity in Christ

Before you embark on the journey of a godly relationship or marriage, it's essential to understand your identity in Christ. True fulfillment does not come from your partner but from your relationship with Jesus. When you enter a relationship seeking someone to "fix" you, fill the voids in your life, or bring you happiness, you inadvertently place an impossible burden on your partner. Such expectations can lead to disappointment and strain.

Instead, begin by cultivating joy in the Lord and embracing your identity as a beloved child of God. This understanding of self-worth and completeness in Christ transforms your perspective. Your partner should complement your life, not be a crutch upon which you lean.

As you approach your relationship, remember to:

Know Yourself in Christ: Spend time in prayer and reflection to understand your value and purpose. Dive into Scripture and let God's Word define who you are. Remember, you are more than enough just as you are in Him.

Embrace Joy Independently: Cultivate a deep-rooted joy that comes from your relationship with Jesus. It’s vital to recognize that happiness can’t be solely sourced from your spouse; they will never be able to meet every emotional need.

Build a Healthy Partnership: When you approach your relationship from a place of wholeness, you create a beautiful dynamic where both partners uplift and empower one another. Love rooted in Christ fosters a partnership that reflects His grace and truth.

As you prepare for a relationship, focus on being whole in Christ. With this foundation, not only will your relationship thrive, but you will experience the beauty of love that reflects God’s grace. Remember, in Christ, you are complete, and from that fullness, love can flourish.
