The Bible tells us that God is three persons in one. 1 John 5:7 says, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” This doctrine is found throughout the Bible. We see clear descriptions and interaction with each person of the Godhead. It is from the concept that we get the word trinity or triune – three in one.
This seems like a difficult concept to grasp, but one way to think of it is that man is created “in God’s image,” and we have three parts as well: body, soul, and spirit. Although they are all distinct, they make up one individual.
