The True Gospel
Paul’s words to the Galatians are striking: “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel.” These early Christians were adding requirements, rituals and rules, onto the message of Jesus. Paul urgently warns them: when you add anything to the gospel, it becomes something else entirely.
Today, we may not be tempted by circumcision, but we face similar distortions: “You have to be perfect to be loved by God.” “Real Christians don’t struggle.” “If you do enough good, God will accept you.” These subtle lies sneak into our hearts and twist the freedom Christ offers.
The true gospel is breathtakingly simple: we are saved by grace, through faith, not by performance. This isn’t just a theological truth; it’s a daily invitation. You don’t have to strive for God’s approval, you already have it in Christ.
Reflection Question:
Are there “additions” you’ve believed you need to do to earn God’s love? How does the pure gospel free you from that burden?

The single command Jesus gave his followers before igniting his movement was “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised...” (Acts 1:4). He was telling them to wait and then move with the Spirit. For a movement to accomplish God's mission, it must be guided by the Spirit of God. We want to challenge every believer with the big idea of Spirit-filled: Moving With The Spirit.
