Freedom in Christ

Let Him set you free

When I think of freedom, I think escape – from responsibilities, burdens, consequences, perhaps even adulting. Walking away. Doing whatever I want. This is unhelpful! Freedom in Christ can often be misinterpreted in an unhelpful ‘I get to do whatever I want’ way. It’s not simply about escaping external circumstances – it’s about experiencing a release deep within your heart. The psalmist writes from a place of struggle, reminding us that distress is something we all encounter. Yet in the middle of his trouble, he discovered a powerful truth: God hears, God answers and God delivers.

Can I encourage you to stop for a moment and reflect on what’s weighing down your soul – fear, guilt, shame, anxiety, brokenness, or the endless striving to measure up. These invisible chains keep us from living fully in the life God intends for us. But there’s good news. Christ came to break every chain. In Him, we find a freedom that no circumstance, no failure and no enemy can take away.

When we call on the Lord, just as the psalmist did, we discover that His response is not silence but rescue. His presence brings peace to the restless, His forgiveness brings freedom to the guilty, and His love brings healing to the broken-hearted.

Today, choose to be released to live as God designed us – forgiven, restored and empowered. True freedom is found in surrender, in trusting Him who sets us free to walk in joy, purpose and hope. Whatever your distress, call on God. He is faithful to answer. Let Him set you free.
