You Already Have It

Life often feels like a chase—after the next raise, the next milestone, the next sign, everything’s going to be alright.

Paul opens Ephesians* by announcing something that changes the pace completely: in Christ, we already have every spiritual blessing.

God has already—not will someday—blessed us beyond what we can imagine. For men used to earning and proving, that’s positively disorienting.

“Spiritual blessing” doesn’t mean a padded bank account, let alone a problem-free life. It does, however, mean that the deep resources of God equip us for ordinary Tuesdays and unexpected storms: forgiveness that confronts shame, peace that steadies anxious thoughts, wisdom for difficult decisions, and strength to show up when you’d rather hide.

These are not things for the super-saints; they are gifts for sons. We don’t live in pursuit of them; we live from them.

Most men, if we’re honest, operate like spiritual beggars. We talk and pray as if we’re empty, hoping God will deliver something He already placed in our hands. We ask for patience, while the Spirit is already growing it. We ask for power, while resurrection life is already at work within us.

The invitation is to draw daily on what’s already yours because you belong to Christ.

This should lift the pressure to perform. Your worth isn’t hanging on quarterly results, flawless parenting, or having the wisest voice in the room. You are not competing for limited favor; the Father’s generosity has no ceiling.

Knowing this frees you to celebrate others, to take the low place, to serve without keeping score. It steadies you when plans change and keeps you from confusing abundance with excess.

Today will offer you opportunities to act like a man who is already blessed: to choose integrity when shortcuts promise gain, to extend encouragement where cynicism would be easier, to remember that your identity is secure even when outcomes aren’t.

The chase for “more” quiets when you realize you begin from fullness.

Walk into your responsibilities with that confidence, and let gratitude, not anxiety, set the pace of your steps.

Let that settled blessing reshape your schedule, your conversations, and even the way you rest; sons don’t scramble for a seat at the table—they sit down and share the feast.

This week, we will be walking through the book of Ephesians and looking at what it means to be men who are strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

Prayer: God, thank You for the fullness of what You’ve already given me. Forgive me for failing to receive the good things You have offered. Help me to live from the strength You have given through the work of Christ. Amen.

Reflection: What “spiritual blessings” do you long for in your life? How does it change your perspective to know that you already have them?
