Day 5: Keep the Mission in Focus
Devotional Thought:
As worship creatives, it’s easy to get caught up in the details — the lighting, the mix, the transitions, the visuals, the arrangements. But when all is said and done, none of that is the mission. The mission is Jesus.
Every lyric, every chord, every brushstroke, every creative idea should point back to Him. The moment worship becomes about our sound, our style, or our platform, we’ve lost sight of the One we’re here to glorify. Worship was never meant to draw attention to us — it’s meant to draw hearts to our Savior.
John the Baptist said it best: “He must become greater; I must become less” (John 3:30). That’s the heartbeat of a true worship creative. When Jesus is at the center, everything else falls into place. The pressure to perform lifts, the need for approval fades, and creativity becomes a pure act of love.
Keeping the mission in focus means remembering why you started — to lift up the name of Jesus and help others encounter Him. It’s leading not from ego, but from surrender. When your art becomes your altar, God uses it to change lives.
So today, refocus your heart. Ask yourself: Is what I’m creating leading people to Jesus? If the answer is yes, you’re exactly where you need to be.
Prayer:
Jesus, keep my heart focused on You. Let everything I create, sing, and design bring glory to Your name. Remove any pride or distraction that pulls my eyes off You. Use my gifts as a reflection of Your greatness. Let my creativity lead others straight to Your presence. Amen.
