Mary's Song of Praiseنموونە

He has seen me

‘For He has looked on the humble estate of His servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name’ (Luke 1:48-49 ESV).

Mary looked at herself with humility. It was not pride in herself that made Mary sing her song so joyfully. Pride refuses to accept a gift from God. On the contrary, Mary humbly wanted to accept for which God had chosen her (Luke 1:38). She felt privileged that God wanted to give His special gift to the world through her. God was not looking to see if Mary had an important position. God saw her heart and desire to serve her God. Modesty does not make one weak. Mary's willingness to be pregnant as an unmarried woman, in a supernatural way that was humanly impossible, took quite a bit of courage. Mary herself did not have to do anything to be seen and chosen by God. No human being has to do anything to receive God's favour. We do not have to uplift ourselves or accomplish anything. Serving God means that we make the necessary room for Him to do His work in our lives. It is at that very moment that deep joy arises and the praise of God's goodness resounds. Consider today in what ways God has his eye on you.
