Time Enoughness: Rewiring Your Brain for a Grace-Paced Life

ڕۆژی1 لە 5

I have too many things to do right now.
I’m crazy busy.
I’m meeting myself coming and going.

I’ve said these things. I’ve believed them. I’ve lived like they were true.

But one day, as if God cracked a window in a crowded, stuffy room, I heard a phrase that made me pause.

Time-enoughness.

Something about it settled into my bones. It felt like grace.

Could it really be true? Could there be enough time to do what matters most?

Not enough time to do everything. But enough time to do the right things. The things God is actually inviting me to do.

Food Hoarders

That phrase reminded me of a little boy I once worked with as a therapist. He had just been adopted from a home marked by hunger and neglect. His new parents were kind and generous. But he still hoarded food.

At mealtime, he’d eat until he felt sick, then slip rolls or crackers into his pillowcase. Just in case.

Even with all the evidence of love and abundance around him, he couldn’t quite believe it would last.

Time Hoarders

I get that. I do the same thing. Not with food, but with time.

Even though I have a good Father who provides for me daily, I live like I’m on my own.

I take on too much. Say yes too quickly. Rush through one thing while already worrying about the next.

Just in case there won’t be enough. Just in case God doesn’t come through this time.

Biblical Truth

But that’s not how Jesus lived.

He said, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need” (Matthew 6:33 NLT).

If I truly believe that, then I don’t have to cram, hoard, or panic.

I can stop striving. I can start trusting.

There really is enough time to do what God has asked me to do.

And that trust doesn't just settle the soul. It also changes how the body responds.

Brain Science

When we live as though we are running out of time, our brains shift into high alert. The stress response kicks in. Cortisol rises. Focus narrows. Creativity fades.

We get frantic. We forget who we are.

But when we begin to trust that there is enough time, enough grace, and enough strength, it tells our nervous system we are safe.

It helps the thinking part of our brain stay engaged. We make wiser choices. We stay more present.

Over time, our brain begins to reshape itself around peace instead of pressure.

Belief in God’s provision doesn’t just change how we think. It transforms the way we live.

Practical Tips

  1. Name one place you feel pressured by time today. Ask, “God, is this something you’ve asked me to carry?” If not, release it.
  2. Take two minutes to breathe and pray: There is enough time. You are with me. I can trust You.
  3. Practice presence. Choose one conversation or task where you will be fully present today. No multitasking. No clock-watching. Just this one moment with God.

Prayer

Jesus, you never hurried and never fell behind. You trusted your Father completely. Teach me to live like that. Help me believe there is enough time for the life you’re giving me. Amen.

Coming Tomorrow

What if being present in one place at a time is not a limitation, but a gift? Tomorrow we’ll explore why you don’t need to be everywhere at once.
