Faith, Fear, and Fostering: Answering the Call to Fosterنموونە

THE CALL
I don’t know exactly when my desire to foster or adopt first began. Was it a longing for children of my own? Or a call to provide a safe, loving home for children in need? I may never fully know, but I do know this; the desire has always been too strong to ignore.
The first time I pursued fostering, I was single and living in a one-bedroom apartment. I eagerly signed up for classes, ready to take that step, only to find out that I needed at least two bedrooms to qualify. Though I was disappointed, I felt a deep peace knowing I’d return to this dream one day.
That experience taught me something powerful: when you feel truly called to something, your spirit won’t let it rest. It’s a quiet, persistent flame that keeps burning no matter the circumstances.
If fostering or adopting has been on your heart, take time to pray. God’s Word makes it clear that He cares deeply for the fatherless and the orphan. So, the question isn’t whether fostering is good; it’s whether this is the path God has prepared for you right now.
There’s no need to rush. You can take steps like reaching out to your local DHR to learn about classes or requirements while remaining open to God’s leading. Trust that His timing and His plan are perfect; even if it looks different than you expected.
Romans 12:2 (ESV) reminds us:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Fostering is much more than just charity work or a good deed; it’s a calling. True callings come with fears, questions, and sacrifices. You may struggle with fears of forming bonds with children, the uncertainties that come with bringing a child into your home, or whether your heart and faith are resilient enough for the journey ahead. This Bible plan caters to you. It helps you reflect and encourages you to move beyond hesitation; allowing faith to rise above fear as you embrace the beauty that unfolds with saying yes to God’s invitation to nurture and care for His children.
