Shine the Light of Jesusنموونە

Come Back to the Source
We started this week on a dusty ancient hillside, listening to Jesus remarkably brand an unremarkable group the “salt of the earth” and the “light of the world” (Matthew 5:13-14).
This calling, though, isn’t always easy, especially over time. The volatility of our world has a way of knocking us off course, whether with one big jolt or more subtly over months and years. We get distracted, disappointed, and discouraged.
Today’s reflective question, then, is this: “How do I stay on the path? How do I keep on being 'salt' and 'light'?”
Of the many possible answers, one stands out: Never stop coming back to Jesus. In good times and bad, you have to keep returning to the source…and refuse to give up.
Returning to Jesus is a daily reset button for our weary souls. Today’s passage is a reassuring anchor, grounding us again in God’s eternal love story: “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:3). Jesus’ preeminence is the very reason we can be “salt” and “light” in the first place.
However distant Jesus’ calling to be “salt” and “light” feels to you today, don’t lose heart. If you’re hearing this, and you feel like you drift from God’s purposes far too frequently, then remember that every moment of drift and distraction is an opportunity to return to the source. Right now is an opportunity.
Come back to Jesus. Allow Him to recalibrate your heart and recenter your soul in His love. Let Jesus, “the true light that gives light to everyone” (John 1:9), lead you home.
Prayer
God, when life’s noise distracts and discourages me, lead me back to Your side; breathe Your peace into my soul, ignite the light of Your love within me, and empower me to carry Your flavor of hope and truth to a world longing for Your touch.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
Thank you for walking through this week of discovering what it means to be salt and light in your world. As you’ve explored flavoring your words, shining your light, and coming back to the source, may God continue to equip and empower you to make His love tangible in every corner of your life. Go boldly, live faithfully, and let the light of Jesus illuminate the world around you.
