A Story about God’s Intervention

“About noon… I saw a light from heaven…” (Acts 26:13, NIV).

God’s story becomes our story. Because God intervenes.

For Paul, it happened around noon on the Damascus road. He tells King Agrippa and Festus about a blazing light, so bright that he and his companions fell to the ground, and how he heard a voice speak to him in Aramaic. He talks about Jesus revealing himself, speaking to him, and appointing him to be his witness.

Some might think Paul is crazy. And it’s easy to wonder if Paul ever wondered if people ever thought he was crazy.

Some did. Luke writes that at this point, Festus interrupted Paul’s defense: “You are out of your mind, Paul!” he shouted. “Your great learning is driving you insane” (Acts 26:24, NIV).

It didn’t matter. Because what happened to Paul happened. So Paul shares it. You can’t control everything that happens to you. You certainly can’t control how others will respond to the story of what God has done in your life. So decide right now to let that fear go. Just share: This is what God did with me.

Some people get so afraid of witnessing. They worry that people will think they’re odd or simple-minded, maybe even delusional. They’re afraid their story will be rejected. Or that it will be challenged, and that they won’t be able to answer every objection or explain every aspect of what they experienced.

Maybe you’re like that. Don’t let it stop you. Just share how God intervened in your life.

Because your story is about what Jesus did for you.
