A Stewardship Entrusted

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

Colossians 3:23-24, NASB

How do you feel about birthdays? Do you dread them because you are one year older? Maybe you look in the mirror and notice there are more lines on your face, and no skin-care regimen seems to make those wrinkles disappear. Think about the great servants of the Lord who have gone before you. Oswald Chambers, author of My Utmost for His Highest, only lived to the age of 43. Robert Murray McCheyne who wrote a powerful memoir describing his relationship with God, only lived to the age of 30. Here is the great lesson for you today. The Lord used those two great men of God in powerful ways during their brief lives. The Lord will possibly give you more years than either one of those men. Your life, whether long or short, is a stewardship entrusted by God to glorify Him. Always remember, “It is the Lord Christ whom you serve” (Col. 3:24, NASB).

Lord, thank You for giving me this day, this month, and this year to live for You, serve You, and glorify You. Amen.
