Awestruck: 30 Days of Wonder in the Bible

ڕۆژی8 لە 30

After their rescue from Egypt, the Israelites worried about survival in the wilderness.

God's answer wasn't just provision—it was wonder in the form of bread from heaven.

When they first saw it, they asked, "What is it?" That's what “manna” literally means. Their daily bread was a mystery, a gift they couldn't explain.

Every morning, God provided fresh food.
Not a year's supply.
Not even a week's worth.
Just enough for that day.

If they tried to hoard it, the manna spoiled. "It bred worms and stank." Except—here's more wonder—the rhythm changed on the sixth day. God provided for the Sabbath and told them to gather double. And it stayed fresh. God was teaching something deeper than survival: His provision makes room for rest.

God wasn't only feeding them—He was training them to depend on His daily faithfulness.

We can relate to their struggle, can't we? We want security. We want to know where next month's provision will come from, how the bills will get paid, and whether there will be enough. But God often provides just enough for today, inviting us to trust Him again tomorrow.

Sometimes His provision feels just as mysterious to us. Like gifts we can’t explain.

It may not look like what we expected. It may even leave us asking, "What is it?" But day after day, God provides exactly what we need.

Centuries later, Jesus declared Himself the "bread of life." He is God's ultimate provision—not just for survival, but for eternal satisfaction. And just like manna, His Word nourishes us daily. Every time you open Scripture, you're invited to eat and be satisfied.

Reflect:

How does God's provision of manna reveal His character to you?

Tomorrow we’ll follow the pillar of fire and cloud—and discover what it means for your journey today.
