Faith Formation Framework Series 5: Faith Prioritized by the Entire Faith Community and Leadershipنموونە

Leading Change Together
Focus
Visualization: Picture a sanctuary filled with people of every age working together in love. What do you see?
Listen
Scripture: Acts 2:17 (NRSV)
"In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy..."
Reflection:
God’s Spirit moves in young and old alike. But too often, church congregations preserve systems that unintentionally silence the voices of young people. When we open the doors of leadership, inviting youth to dream, decide, and lead alongside adults, we honor the Spirit’s work in young people. Change often feels uncomfortable—yet it is necessary for growth. Intergenerational leadership transforms the entire church into a place where every person is a partner in God’s work of justice, mercy, and love.
Apply
Where might your church need to invite youth into real leadership?
Respond
Spirit of renewal, break down what holds us back from shared leadership. Teach us to trust your work in every generation, that together we may reflect your kingdom.

Young people thrive most fully in their faith when the whole church embraces and empowers them. In this final part of the Faith Formation Framework, we explore how faith communities can reimagine church life so that youth are not just included, but prioritized. From leadership and worship to belonging and justice, every part of the life of a faith community can and should be shaped with young people in mind. When we center youth, we don’t lose our identity—we remember it. A thriving church is one where every generation grows together in love.
