Set Free

“... the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 124:7–8 NIV

We all go through valley experiences, but some of us seem to be forever chained to them. No matter how hard you try to believe, it’s like you’ve been tied to a tree and can’t break free, forever a prisoner to generational sins, bad decisions, attitudes and oppressive thought patterns that bleed over into the rest of your life. As soon as you seem to make a little headway, something yanks your chain and pulls you back.

You’ve come to the awful realization that your life will never play out the way it should—the good way God intended—if you don’t break free. This is one valley you will never get out of if the enemy of your soul has his way.

The Israelites endured some very desperate situations. Their history is riddled with times of wandering, imprisonment and suffering, often because of their rebellion against God but many times simply because of the spiritual warfare of this world.

They were shackled. Sometimes the chains were literal iron chains and sometimes it was the spiritual shackling of their impoverished souls. But in their oppression, they realized their only hope of deliverance was from God. They knew the best thing to do was cry out to God.

“‘Lord, help!’ they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress… he snapped their chains…He broke down their prison gates of bronze; he cut apart their bars of iron… He spoke, and they were healed, snatched from the door of death” (Psalm 107:13–20 NLT).

What if I told you that you could be free? All it takes is a cry, a shout for help.

Your shackles can be broken. Your help is in the name of the Lord. Shout now. Cry out now. Speak to those areas of captivity in your life and declare deliverance to your soul. The blood of Jesus Christ has broken every snare and you can go free.

Pray:“God, I cry to you for help. I ask you to break off every chain in my life. You are my deliverer and I thank you for the freedom I have in you. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”

Seek: Are you shackled? Do you want to be free? Identify what is holding you back and cry out for God’s help.

Speak: In Jesus’ name, I declare that every snare in my life has been broken. I am free to love God and live for him.
