Counting My Blessings

“Cut off anxiety

Replace with gratitude

Forget what used to

Hurt me now

that I say, “thank You”

Use my prayers

And change the way I see

I know that what You have is more than enough for me.”

There's power in being grateful. Harvard University says this in the article "Giving thanks can make you happier": “In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.” So it's good according to studies, now let's look at what the Bible says:

James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”

And Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Imagine the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus. Wow.

We know it's not always easy to be grateful and to count your blessings. Some days, when you struggle to even get out of bed, it can feel so far away. But there's power in being grateful and giving thanks to God in all of our situations, ups and downs.

We challenge you today to make a list of the things you're grateful for, and see how it will transform your day, heart, and mind. If you’re reading this, God woke you up today, which means that you have breath in your lungs; let’s start there! Then you can continue it however you want. When life hits you, having built up a grateful attitude will help you so much. We are so thankful to God for so much today. Thank You, Jesus!
