“And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.” Genesis ‭21‬:‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Isaac, the Promised seed, came twenty-five years after God told Abram to leave his father’s house. Isaac was born unto Abraham when he was a hundred years old. Even in his later years—Abram was faithful.

Abram pursued Promise even from the moment God called him at seventy-five. No matter your age—obedience is required to pursue Promise. Even in unlikely circumstances—Abram obeyed God, and Abram’s legacy was based upon his obedience.

Your obedience is critical to your success. Your obedience is crucial to your legacy. When God told Abram to leave his father’s house—Abram was without seed. Abram was without legacy. Abram was without an heir.

While Abram was in Haran—his wife was barren, and he was heirless. His family had experienced success, and now at seventy-five years old—he took a chance. He stepped out in faith and began again.

No matter the age, no matter the stage—when you obey God—His Promise has no time restrictions. His Promise has no limits. His Promise transforms the barren into the fruitful. God establishes the legacy of the heirless.

God gave Abram a seed that would not be numbered. Even at one hundred years old—God gave Abram hope. Abram did not idolize the Promise. Abram’s heart did not worship the Promise—Abram worshipped God. Abram was faithful. Even when things seemed impossible—Abram followed God.

Genesis‬ ‭21‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭KJV‬‬ declares, “For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.”

God opened the womb of the barren, and at the set time—Isaac came forth. Your set time is not according to your timing—it’s in God’s Time. His Timing has Purpose. His Timing has a plan. In fact, Isaac’s name means, “He laughs."

Abram could have stayed in Haran and potentially experienced success without an heir. But what’s success without a successor? Remember, Haran means “mountaineer." Mountaineers climb mountains and conquer land. Abram was known in Haran. Abram had success in Haran. But something was missing. Something wasn’t right. Abram was rich and successful, but he had no heir to pass on his legacy.

No matter the amount of wealth or success he had in Haran—there was something that was not in his control. This was something that only God could change. No amount of wealth. No amount of influence. No title. No position. No amount of notoriety could have given Abram an heir. No amount of money could have opened Sarah’s womb. No amount of success could have opened Sarah’s womb and given Abram a successor.

God gives success and successors. For He is the Lord of the Harvest and the Rewarder of Legacy. God gave Abram Isaac—yet Abram didn’t worship the reward. Abram didn’t worship the success. Abram didn’t worship the successor. Abram worshipped God, and God honored the heart of Abram.
