Fatherless No More: Discovering God’s Father-Heartنموونە

Day 2: God as the Perfect Father
When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, the very first word He used was “Father.” That’s no small detail. God doesn’t want us to relate to Him primarily as a distant deity but as an intimate, loving parent.
Earthly fathers, even the best ones, fall short. Some are absent, some are harsh, and some are passive. But God’s character is flawless. He is kind, patient, protective, and present. He loves us not because of what we do but because of who we are: His children.
For me, this truth changed everything. Instead of living like an orphan, I began to live like a son. I no longer had to strive to earn approval. I could rest in the Father’s unconditional love.
God wants the same for you. He calls you His child, and He delights in you. No matter what kind of father you had or didn’t have, God invites you into a relationship where His love defines your identity.
Reflection
When you think of God as Father, what feelings or images come to mind? How does Scripture challenge or affirm those thoughts?
Prayer
God, thank You that You are my Father. Teach me to trust Your love and rest in my identity as Your child. Let me see You for who You truly are. In Your name, amen.

So many people grow up without a present, loving father, and the ache of that absence can last a lifetime. But God, our perfect Father, invites us to know Him personally, to be healed from the wounds of fatherlessness, and to walk in the full identity of His children. In this five-day devotional, drawn from his book, Fatherless No More, Tim Johnson shares his personal journey of healing and reveals how you can experience the Father’s love for yourself. No matter what your past looks like, you can live free, whole, and secure as God’s beloved child.
