Lighting Up Our City Video 8: Creating a Culture of Evangelismنموونە

All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. (Ps. 86:9)
We need to dream about what a radically evangelistic culture might look like. Then we need to include all people by making it normal and natural for them to be part of that culture.
In creating a culture of evangelism, our goal is expressed by the psalmist in Ps. 86:9: “All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name.” We want everyone in every nation to come and worship the Lord, glorifying His name.
We are called to this mission of evangelism by Jesus himself when He instructs His disciples to go out to all the nations to share the good news and to baptize them and to teach them about God and His instructions for how we are to live life as believers and followers of Christ. We are empowered by the Holy Spirit.
The ultimate goal is that we would experience John’s vision in Revelation: “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’” (Rev. 7:9-10)
So, how do we make this vision a reality? We need to share Jesus in radical ways:
In an evangelistic culture, people live with radical hospitality.
In an evangelistic culture, people display radical generosity.
In an evangelistic culture, people display a sense of openness.
And we need to act now because “for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming” (Matt. 25:13 NKJV). How can we make sure that all people from every tribe, nation, language, and background are there before the throne worshipping the Lamb?
Let us go to the ends of the earth (or the edges of our own lives) to share the Good News!

Evangelism is not a solitary endeavor. We see this throughout the New Testament. This 5-day reading plan provides examples, encouragement, and ways to pray so that we can grow a heart for evangelism, both individually and within our churches.
