Day 8 — Daily Intentions
“So be very careful how you live, not being like those with no understanding, but live honorably with true purpose and courage, [...] making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence]” (Ephesians 5:15–16, AMP).
Have you ever said that you have clear priorities, yet the reality is, you find yourself living a life that contradicts that very statement?
It is a reality many of us face, especially when we are trying to juggle it all: career, family, social circles, and ministry at the same time. Our daily actions do not always reflect what is truly important to us.
However, we have good news - it is not too late to change!
After recognizing and reflecting on the disconnect that lies between our desired priorities and our daily actions, we can choose to change and start living with intentionality.
As Ephesians 5:15–16 reminds us, being intentional in the way we live means making the most of the time we have and consciously choosing where to direct our energy.
This is why we must remember that time, energy, and attention are three fundamental currencies of our lives. Every single day, whether we realize it or not, we are spending them somewhere. Our daily choices are true “transactions” that reveal what really matters to us.
Every choice we make either brings us closer or farther apart from the fulfillment of our true purpose. Every “yes” and every “no” carries weight and contributes—either positively or negatively—to whether we advance quickly or slow down in walking in alignment with God’s calling for our lives.
Living with intentionality requires a lifestyle grounded in three ongoing actions: review, adjustment, and recommitment each day.
To begin practicing daily intentionality, take five minutes each morning to write down your priorities for the day. Note three intentional actions you can take that reflect your values and the vision God has given you. At the end of the day, reflect on how it went: identify where you stayed aligned and where you were distracted, and adjust your course for the following day if necessary.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to live my days with intentionality. Help me not to waste my time, my energy, or my attention, but to invest them in what You have prepared for me. I want my daily choices to align with the eternal vision You have entrusted to me. Give me grace to review, to adjust, and to begin again each time I lose direction. Amen.
