Stories of Generosity: How Followers of Jesus Changed the Worldنموونە

Day 2 | Thomas Maclellan
“I consecrate all that I am and all that I have, the faculties of my mind, the members of my body, my worldly possessions, my time, and my influence over others, all to be used entirely for Thy glory and resolutely employed in obedience to Thy commands as long as Thou continuest me in life.” - Thomas Macclellan
In 1857, at just 20 years old, Thomas Maclellan wrote these words of surrender to God—long before he became wealthy. Today, the Maclellan Foundation has given away more than $500 million to Kingdom-focused ministries and organizations. Thomas understood a vital truth: God is the Creator, Owner, and Provider of everything, and we’re invited to steward what belongs to him. When we see our time, skills, opportunities, and possessions as gifts from God, gratitude turns into worship—and worship fuels a passion to use every gift for his glory.
Pray: Lord, thank you for everything I have. It's all yours. Show me the purpose you’ve given me, cultivate a passion in me to live open-handed, and prepare my heart to live and give like you. I can’t do it alone. I need you. May my life point people to you.

Throughout history, God has used ordinary men and women whose extraordinary faith and generosity changed the world. Their words and lives still inspire us today, pointing us toward Jesus and showing us what it looks like to live open-handed for his Kingdom. As we study their stories alongside Scripture, we’re reminded that true generosity isn’t about wealth or status—it’s about a heart fully surrendered to God. Their examples challenge us, inspire us, and invite us to take our next step toward joyful, radical, Christlike generosity.
