Why Do We Worship?نموونە

Psalm 124 paints a vivid picture: being swallowed, swept away, torn apart. It’s not poetic exaggeration—it’s emotional honesty. Life gets that intense sometimes.
But worship changes the perspective. Instead of being crushed by fear, the psalmist leads the people into a testimony of triumph.
Worship becomes more than a melody—it becomes a memorial.
Just like Israel stacked stones at the Jordan to remember God’s faithfulness, your worship today stacks stones of remembrance:
- The job you didn’t think you’d get?
- The diagnosis that could’ve broken you?
- The heartbreak you thought would never heal?
Worship tells the story. Every time you sing, every time you remember, you’re placing another stone of praise that says, “God carried me through.”
And when the next storm comes, you’ll have a wall of praise to look back on—and a reason to keep trusting.
What “stones of remembrance” are you stacking in worship? What story of God’s faithfulness are you carrying into church this week?
Prayer:
Father, I don’t want to forget what You’ve done. Let my worship be a declaration of every trial You’ve turned into triumph. Help me build a life that remembers—and rejoices.

If you approach worship from a consumer perspective—asking, “What do I get out of this?”—you will miss the true purpose of worship. Worship is not about personal preference, entertainment, or convenience; it’s about centering our hearts on God and giving Him the glory He deserves. When we reduce worship to what pleases us, we place ourselves at the center instead of God. True worship shifts the focus away from our wants and toward the worthiness of the One who created us, redeemed us, and reigns over us.
