The Breaking: Part I

Every knee bows to the name of Jesus. The knee of depression, divorce, chaos, medical diagnoses, and so much more. As we exercise our authority in Christ, we must open our mouth and declare these things so.

The great unstuck life will require some work on your part if you haven't caught on to that theme in our devotional already! Yes, every area that we have spent time learning, praying, and growing in must be addressed. The free life in Christ that was bought at such a high price must be pursued. This means we work in sync with the Holy Spirit, becoming more and more sensitive to His leading while also simultaneously coming into agreement with God's written Word.

The first part of an unstuck life is full surrender to Christ Jesus through authentic Christianity, as discussed in week 1. We then must pursue holiness, eradicating open doors to sin in our daily lives. We cannot expect the great benefit of God's blessings to flow when we choose to operate in constant disobedience. No relationship would work that way! As we continue in our unstuck journey, we begin dissecting bitter roots of unforgiveness and heart wounds that have long bled and allow the healing balm of Jesus to mend it all. We begin renewing our mind to make it obey the Word of God, meditating on Scripture day and night to refresh our thought life constantly. And then we begin to break (aloud) any areas of our life that may contain bondage as our Scripture of the day indicates, "every knee bows" to the name of Jesus. So here are sample prayers that can be prayed in the areas we have discussed:

Forgiveness:

"Father, I forgive ______________ for the pain they caused me. I forgive because you first forgave me. I forgive out of total surrender and obedience to you. I forgive because my freedom and my walk with you is impacted by my unforgiveness. I choose 70 times 7 today. In Jesus' Name."

Repentance and Renouncing:

"Father, I ask forgiveness for my sin, including ______________ (list sins individually). I want to honor you in words and action. I want to live according to your Word. I want nothing in my life that does not honor you. I repent of all these sins. I thank you for the finished work of the Cross. Forgive me. I break and release myself from all this sin. I renounce all ties with it now. In Jesus' name."

Word Curses & Oaths:

"Father, I repent of every time I've opened my mouth and dishonored you or come into agreement with the enemy through lies or curses, even through my own ignorance. I recognize the power of my words. I break all ungodly covenants, oaths, vows, and pledges I have made. With the authority of the blood of Jesus, I break and release myself from all ties with such verbal contracts, made either knowingly or unknowingly, including ______________ (list word curses individually you have said). In Jesus' Name."

Tomorrow, we will discuss and take a look at sample prayers to break all ties with bloodline curses and witchcraft in our lives as we continue in active spiritual warfare strategies.

Points to Ponder:

  • Take the time to dedicate at least one day of Prayer to each of the aforementioned areas of bondage – forgiveness, sin, and Word curses. This powerful time with the Lord will minister to your spirit the areas that have long bound you.
