Impulses for the Way: 30 Days on the Camino De Santiagoنموونە

Pain
It’s time to breathe. In and out. Try to still all that’s swirling in your heart and mind. Ask the Lord to speak, because you are listening.
Even though you may not be physically walking this pilgrimage, you are on this devotional journey to get to know the impulses of the Holy Spirit better. And even though you may not have blisters on your feet, you are living in this world that “is not as it should be.” As Barrett shares in the video, you “were made to experience something different.”
When Jesus lived on earth, he experienced pain, and he showed us what that “something different” looks like. He sees us and doesn’t shy away, because he gets us. He knows our pain. He has compassion.
Take a moment and pay attention to any place in your body, heart or soul that is in pain right now. Consider: How do I view the pain in my life in light of knowing Jesus?
Slowly and thoughtfully read the following Bible passage: “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin” (Hebrews 4:15, NIV).
Ask yourself: What word or phrase sticks out from this passage?
Read the passage again. Tell God what you see. Ask him to help you understand what still seems cloudy.
Prayerfully consider: Am I trusting God’s compassion and inviting him into my pain?
Conclude your time by resting in God’s presence. He is with you.

What if following Jesus was like walking the Camino de Santiago—dusty paths, vineyards, mountain passes, and ancient Roman roads? *Impulses for the Way* is a 30-day, video devotional filmed across 800km of this historic pilgrimage. Barrett Harkins, who lives in Santiago and serves pilgrims daily, shares stories from the trail, Scripture reflections, and prayers that explore restlessness, forgiveness, hope, and radical grace. Whether you’re on the Camino or navigating daily life, these short videos invite you to take the next step with Jesus—listening to the Spirit’s whispers and remembering this truth: you never walk alone.
