Sundays at the Trackنموونە

Marcus Smith, president and CEO of Speedway Motorsports, carries forward a legacy built by his father, Bruton Smith. But for Marcus, leadership isn’t just a business role—it’s a calling. He’s driven by Colossians 3:23: to work with excellence as unto the Lord.
Under his leadership, Speedway Motorsports has expanded nationwide, including the revival of North Wilkesboro Speedway. For Marcus, that restoration mirrored spiritual renewal. “What people thought was dead is alive again,” he said, pointing to redemption through Christ.
His faith journey began in childhood, deepened in high school, and matured in college, where he worked summers at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Mentors from Motor Racing Outreach and a conversation with Franklin Graham helped Marcus see that ministry can happen anywhere—including the track.
Today, he views each race weekend as an opportunity to serve others. Whether ensuring safety or creating joy-filled experiences, Marcus believes every job has eternal value when done for God’s glory. He often references Matthew 22:37–39: love God and love others.
His leadership style reflects biblical values—diligence, humility, and care for his team. He believes that faith and work aren’t separate—they’re integrated. Marcus challenges us to bring our faith into every corner of our calling and trust that God will use us right where we are.
Reflection:
Colossians 3:23 challenges us to work wholeheartedly for the Lord. Marcus Smith’s leadership shows that faith isn’t confined to church—it belongs in boardrooms, racetracks, and everyday life. When we work with excellence and integrity, we reflect God’s character.
Questions to Reflect On:
- How can you honor God through your work or daily responsibilities?
- What would change if you saw your job as a ministry?
