DAY 7 – JOY OF YOUR PRESENCE
Reflection: Today's psalm, which we are told in Acts 2:25 speaks of Jesus, shows us one of the remarkable features of the Bible – the way it speaks at personal and prophetic levels.
Remember on Day 3 we read of the disciples with ‘burning hearts’ as Jesus ‘opened’ the Scriptures to them? This is likely one of the Scriptures he showed them, that prophesies the death and joyful resurrection of the Messiah.
But it also speaks powerfully at a personal level. We see David, the writer, describing how at night he draws strength from God. Not a distant God, but one who is joyfully present (vs 11). A God who is with us always, even in the toughest of times. This is the God who gave his Son for us, and in whose resurrection we have the promise of eternal life.
Choose joy: Take a moment to pray – ‘Dear God, thank you that through Jesus, you give the joy of your presence, today and forever. As I still my heart, I confess Jesus as my Lord, and sense your living presence now. Thank you. Amen.’
