Healing the Hidden Wounds
Scripture:
“For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all.” Luke 8:17 (NLT)
Reflection:
God is not indifferent to your pain. Whether it happened twenty years ago or yesterday, your wounds matter deeply to Him. Sometimes we bury our hurt so deeply that we forget it's still bleeding. But healing begins when we realize that God saw it all—and He cares.
At a moment I least expected, as a painful memory resurfaced, God spoke gently to the depths of my soul: “It mattered to Me.” That simple, powerful truth brought healing. And He can do the same for you.
As I mentioned in the Day 1 Reflection of this devotional, my employment at the church we attended ended abruptly. Like a dormant virus I didn’t know was there, hidden wounds remained long after the experience. I didn’t even realize they existed. Yet God had been present when the wounds were made, just as He was present 21 years later—faithful, near, and ready to heal.
Through His intimate whisper–“It mattered to Me”—He began to mend what I thought was long forgotten.
Application:
Find a quiet place. Ask the Holy Spirit to recall an unhealed wound from your past. As painful memories arise, picture Jesus saying, “It mattered to Me.” Write down what He shows you.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that there is nothing hidden from You and for caring about my pain. Help me to allow You into the deep places I’ve ignored or suppressed. Bring healing to the memories where I have been hurting and hope to where I have allowed my heart to grow cold or indifferent.
