Journey Through Genesis 12-50نموونە

This lesson is a review of Genesis 12-50.
Conclusion: Behind the Text
Although Joseph and Jacob died in Egypt – and received the mumification of nobility – they knew their true home was in Canaan. In this video you’ll see the traditional site where most of the patriarchs and matriarchs are buried.

The following iMap will show you all of their burial cities, each being significant in later biblical history.
Hebron, Cave of Machpelah
Hebron is the site of the cave of Machpelah where Abraham buried Sarah. According to tradition, this is also the burial site of Abraham and two other ancestral couples—Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob and Leah. David would begin his reign as king in this site.
Bethlehem
Bethlehem is the site of Rachel’s grave (Gen 35:19-20). Thousands of Jewish women visit her tomb every year, seeking comfort and ease in childbirth. Bethlehem would later become the birthplace of King David and the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
Shechem
Shechem is the burial place of Joseph who insisted that his body be brought to the Promised Land after his death. His burial, like that in Hebron, was the result of a purchase (Josh 24:32). Shechem was the natural center of the Promised Land and was between the mountains where Joshua renewed the covenant.
