Day 3: Released

Then, something shifts.

The woman leaves her water jar. The very thing she came looking to fill, which once sustained her, is no longer her priority. That jar was heavy, and to her, it was necessary. But in meeting Jesus, she knows she’s found something better.

She runs back to the very town and the same people that shamed her and says, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did.” (John 4:29 NIV) Guilt and hiding completely replaced with testimony.

That’s real release and freedom.

Clearly, her story wasn’t polished - she didn’t go to Bible college or become perfect overnight, but her encounter qualified her. Her courage didn’t come from self-belief- it came from realising who Jesus is. Confidence, not in herself, but in the one who met her at the well.

And the fruit was that many believed, and many met Jesus because of her story.

We talk a lot about courage, confidence, and contentment - but this woman’s journey shows us it starts with Jesus. She was once ashamed, thirsty, and hidden. By the end of the story, she’s bold, seen, known, and free. Not because her circumstances changed, but because she did.

Maybe there’s a 'jar' you’ve been carrying - something you’ve trusted to sustain you, but it’s grown heavy. Shame, success, busyness, approval, control? What would it look like to leave it behind? To trust Jesus enough to run free?

You may not feel fully 'qualified' yet, but if this woman’s story teaches us anything, it’s that being released by Jesus comes not after years of performance, but through one honest encounter.
