Principles for Life in the Kingdom of Godنموونە

PERSEVERANCE OF FAITH
MAIN IDEAS
• Even in this territory not inhabited by the Jews, it was impossible for JESUS to remain hidden. He had become very popular, but also indispensable to people who needed help.
• A Gentile woman asked for help for her daughter, who was possessed by an evil spirit. JESUS refused her, arguing that it was not yet the time to extend His work to non-Hebrews.
• The woman’s faith and perseverance led to the resolution of her problem, so that Jesus complemented her on her faith.
Even though at this stage of His work, JESUS intended to minister exclusively to the people of the Covenant, the Israelites, the gospel also introduces us to non-Jews with a very strong faith. This Syro-Phoenician woman impresses JESUS with her perseverance, arguing in faith and not giving up, eventually convincing Him to deal with her problem. In any matter we bring to JESUS with faith, we must be persistent and never give up. Faith, coupled with sincerity and perseverance, still leads today to God’s intervention for those who bring their problems to Him. When you come to Jesus, you must never pretend to be someone you’re not, but be your natural self and recognize your powerlessness, declare your faith, be persistent, and you will surely see that Jesus will not disappoint you.
It is important, however, to concern yourself with the spiritual problems in your life as your priority, and all your other needs will be solved in God’s own time.
