Day 6: Your Weakness Is Not Disqualifying

I'll be vulnerable with you for a moment. There's an area of ministry where I consistently feel inadequate. Every time I'm in that situation, I think, "Surely God could use someone more qualified, more gifted, more... better." Maybe you have an area like that too, where you feel like you're fumbling around in the dark.

Nick Vujicic knows this feeling intimately. Born without arms and legs, he felt called to ministry but wrestled with one overwhelming question: How could someone with such obvious limitations effectively serve God? The feelings of inadequacy were crushing. Here's the beautiful plot twist: Nick discovered that his greatest weakness became his greatest ministry strength. His vulnerability and complete dependence on God's grace resonated with audiences worldwide. Today, his ministry reaches millions, proving that God's power truly is perfected in human weakness.

Paul learned this same lesson. He asked God three times to remove his "thorn in the flesh"—whatever weakness plagued him. God's answer wasn't healing; it was, "My grace is sufficient for you." In other words, "Paul, you don't need to be strong. You just need to be available."

Francis Chan says it perfectly: "God is not looking for extraordinary people to do extraordinary things. He's looking for ordinary people who will surrender extraordinarily."Joni Eareckson Tada adds, "Our weaknesses aren't disqualifications from ministry—they're invitations for God's power to be displayed."

What if the very thing you think disqualifies you is actually what God wants to use most? What if your weakness isn't a bug in the system—it's a feature?

Think of one area where you feel inadequate in ministry. Instead of trying to get stronger in that area, spend time surrendering it to God today. Ask Him, "How do you want to display your power through this very weakness?" Then take one small step in faith, depending completely on His strength rather than your own.
