Grace is Greater Than Failure

There are moments when everything seems to go wrong. You knew the right thing to do. You even meant to do it. But in the moment, you froze. You failed. You felt like a fraud.

Maybe it was when your faith came up in conversation and you stayed silent. Or when you changed who you were just to fit in.

It’s wild how quickly boldness can turn into fear when pressure hits.

Peter understood this. He was one of Jesus’ closest friends. He saw miracles. He walked on water. He was the first to say, “You are the Messiah”. He even promised he’d die for Jesus.

Then the moment came, when Jesus was arrested and the world felt uncertain, Peter denied knowing him. Not once. Not twice. Three times.

It’s easy to judge Peter, but if we are honest, we have all been there. We know the truth about God, about who He is. We have felt God’s presence at Motion Conference or in a quiet moment of worship.

But then the world hits: pressure, fear, insecurity. We shrink back. We deny Him, maybe not even with our words, but with our silence, our compromise, or our fear.

Here’s the good news: Failure is not the end of your story.

After the resurrection, Jesus meets Peter again—not with guilt, but with grace. He gives Peter the chance to reaffirm his love, a declaration for every denial.

He restores him and reaffirms his calling. That moment wasn’t just about forgiveness—it was about purpose.

Jesus made it clear: Peter’s identity wasn’t defined by what he did wrong. It was defined by what Jesus did right.

Peter went on to lead the early church with boldness and passion. He found grace that was bigger than any of his failures.

The same is true for you. You’re not disqualified. Your mistakes don’t erase your calling.

Jesus still sees you. He still loves you. And He still calls you by name.

Practical Step: Take 10 minutes today to reflect. Write in a journal, pray, and worship. Think about the failures that have made you feel like God can’t use you. Then release those things to God, and let Jesus meet you with grace.

MOTION "Who Will Go" 7 Day Devotional

God is calling each of us to share His message. In Isaiah 6:8, He asks, “Whom shall I send?” Isaiah responds, “Here I am. Send me.” That same question still stands today. Sharing Jesus can feel uncomfortable and intimidating, but God doesn’t ask for perfection—just a willing heart. Our job is to share; He’s the one who changes lives. This seven-day devotional will help you face the common barriers to saying yes and take your next step in faith. God is still asking, "Who will go?" - How will you respond?
