Enduring Work: Part II
Most of us would love for our work to endure beyond our lifetimes. Bezalel was a craftsman who modeled that level of enduring work.
Bezalel built the ark of the covenant with such skill and expertise that the covenant still existed thousands of years later. In deserts, oasis, temples, across nations and through the rise and fall of kingdoms, the ark of the covenant stood firm. The Bible contains accounts of Bezalel’s attributes that made his work so enduring and clues as to how to replicate his success.
Exodus 35:30 says, “The Lord has called by name Bezalel … and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship.” (CSB)
The first attribute of Bezalel is the Spirit of God. As the one who hung the stars in the sky, the Spirit of God is by far the most powerful tool for creator or craftmanship a person could have. God infused Bezalel with His Spirit, leading him into exceptional craftsmanship.
If you desire enduring work, through Jesus, God promises to provide you with His Spirit. God’s Spirit can help you create enduring work as He did for Bezalel.
Questions For Reflection
- What is the Spirit of God? How can you tell the difference between Godly inspiration and worldly inspiration?
- Have you asked for the Lord’s favor in your business? How have you prepared yourself to receive the Lord?

Solomon’s story is a powerful reminder that even the wisest and most blessed among us can falter when our hearts drift from wholehearted devotion to God. Despite building the temple and experiencing God’s presence, Solomon allowed compromise and divided loyalties to take root, leading him away from the One who had given him everything. His journey calls us to examine our own lives, to guard against the subtle pull of lesser loves, and to seek a faith that endures—anchored in worship, obedience, and an undivided heart for God.
