Behold the Lamb of God

Day 2

When we do some extra studies on the life, nature, and behavior of a lamb, we can see that Jesus perfectly fits the image. For example, did you know that a lamb’s meat is rich in protein and contains a high amount of vitamins and minerals? Because of what the meat contains, it promotes muscle growth, performance, and maintenance in the body of the consumer. It is important to note that the value of the lamb’s meat is only beneficial to the consumer if the lamb was first killed. Meaning, when we want the benefits of the lamb's meat, it can only benefit us when it is no longer on the body of the lamb itself.

In the context of Jesus, we receive the benefits of His body because He died for us. We only receive healing because His body was ripped apart for our sins. We only receive forgiveness from His blood because it was shed for us on the cross. We only receive salvation from Jesus because He hung on a tree for me and you. Yes, it is equally true that Jesus did grant healing, forgiveness, and salvation to those in Israel when He walked there. But in order for the power of the Lamb’s influence and authority to reach the outermost parts of the earth, He had to die. Jesus had to share His body with us so that we can partake in the strength, performance, and maintenance we receive from Him in order to advance His Kingdom.

Jesus said that He is the Bread that came from Heaven, and when we partake in Holy Communion, we partake in the body and the blood of our Lord. Which means we receive the benefits of the lamb's meat.

It is recommended to cook lamb in order for the bacteria in the meat to die and become safe for consumption. You see, Jesus hung on the cross, and while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us. He became sin for us so that we can live free from it. The sins of all humanity were placed on Jesus; now His flesh contained our bacteria, and in order for the meat to be safe to consume, we need to place it on fire. The holiness of God demands consequences for sin. And the wages of sin is death, therefore God sent His Son to die in our place so that we don’t have to die. So God, in all His holiness, unleashed His wrath on all sin upon Jesus on the cross. Jesus placed our sin (bacteria) upon Himself, and received the justice of the Almighty God (fire) so that His body could be prepared for us (cooking the meat) so that we can receive healing, forgiveness, and salvation for our souls.

Hallelujah!!

Behold the Lamb of God

Throughout Scripture and especially the New Testament, we find a lot of analogies being used to describe the character and the role of Jesus Christ towards us, as humanity. In this plan, we will look at the similarities between Jesus and a lamb and how and why we need to connect to Him as the Lamb of God. Another plan to read together with this one: "Behold the Lion of God"
