DAY 7 – PSALMS 36-39

“Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be.
Remind me that my days are numbered—how fleeting my life is.
You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand.
My entire lifetime is just a moment to you;
at best, each of us is but a breath. Interlude.

We are merely moving shadows,
and all our busy rushing ends in nothing.
We heap up wealth,
not knowing who will spend it.

And so, Lord, where do I put my hope?
My only hope is in you.”

Psalm 39:4-7

A glorious and incomparable future lies ahead for all believers—one far greater than any of our fluctuating desires, achievements, dreams, celebrations, losses, victories, or defeats. Soon, our faith will be made sight. We must stay sober-minded, focusing on what truly matters, shifting our attention away from the fleeting things of this life, and remembering that a far greater glory awaits us. God has not left us helpless in the meantime, but He remains faithful—forever.

"I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. He is ever lending generously, and his children become a blessing."

Psalm 37:25

Prayer: Holy Spirit, strengthen me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and remember how brief my time on earth will be. Thank You for never forsaking the righteous. Help me to put all of my hope in You. Amen.

The Psalms

The Psalms teach us to pray, worship, and be honest before God, expressing every joy, struggle, and question. They shape our faith, pointing to Jesus, who prayed and fulfilled them. Embracing them daily cultivates a life of worship, rooted in God’s Word. In this 27-day plan, we’ll journey through how to navigate both the trials and triumphs of life while awaiting our Lord’s return. Each day includes a short devotional, 2-3 key verses, a thought to ponder, and a closing prayer.
