Miracles and Mysteries: Matthew 8-13نموونە

As people heard of the authority displayed by Jesus, crowds gathered around Him, including a group of people who brought a man who was paralysed to be healed. Jesus, seeing their faith, healed the man, but also forgave him of his sins. What we see from Jesus here is more than just an authority over creation in being able to heal, but an authority unlike anyone had seen before — to forgive the sins of a person. This was met with responses of astonishment and amazement, but also responses of rejection and opposition by the religious scribes who were present.
Many centuries on, Jesus’ claim to be able to forgive sins is still readily available today and displayed in full on the cross where He died and the tomb where He rose again. The question is, what is your response?
Today, ponder this: Jesus, in His ministry, faced great skepticism to His authority as He still does today. How do we respond when others doubt the power and authority of Jesus? Are we ready to stand firm in our faith and share the truth of Jesus’ authority to forgive sin?
