Have you ever tried to fix something, or solve a problem, but you just couldn’t seem to figure it out? Then, without another option you ask for help and they figure it out immediately. It is a subtle reminder that sometimes we need others to help us.
We do the same thing with faith. We think we can earn it or be good enough, or volunteer enough, and somehow everything will be right. We try to fix ourselves… by ourselves. When we read this verse we are reminded that freedom isn’t found by ourselves, but it is given to us by Jesus. Sometimes, it can be hard to trust in Jesus because we want to do things our way, but He knows what’s best for us.
Today, take some time to write out a list of ways that you are trying to fix things yourself. Then, take time to pray to God about it. Ask Him to help you find the freedom that Jesus brings.
