Only Jesus Makes Things Right

The call of Jesus Christ is to follow him and build his kingdom; part of which involves striving to dismantle the works of darkness we see in the world and to prevail against the gates of hell. That might make for a great one-liner at a pep rally, but where on earth do we start? How do we do that?

We must remember that Jesus has already overcome this world, but also that his Spirit lives in us. The Spirit wants to speak into how we orient and conduct our whole life: the decisions we make, the way we work, the way we treat others and what we prioritise - so that we fulfill his kingdom call. Ultimately, he leads us to loving God and loving others. Each time we choose to operate in this love God/love people framework, we are dismantling the works of darkness and building up the kingdom of God in the world.
