Forty Days in the Psalmsنموونە

Rage rooms have “become the rage” in some cities. These rooms are supposed to provide a place to relax, to release frustration and stress. A safe place (supposedly) to destroy objects, such as taking a sledgehammer to a computer to vent their rage. Sounds like a good idea, but maybe not. There is evidence that giving place to destructive behavior can increase your rage, not decrease it. It might feel good at the moment, but the evidence is sketchy at best.
It may be surprising that God offers us a better way to deal with anger and stress, as seen in the Psalms. As a new believer, I read these Psalms (sometimes called Imprecatory Psalms) as something that was okay for King David or the original writer but somehow unholy and unsafe for me to do. However, I now see God’s Wisdom in giving us these examples as ways of praying through our anger and stress.
I’m not suggesting that you bring a sledgehammer to prayer time! But being honest with God about our feelings and frustrations is not only good for the soul. It is an opportunity for God to deal with us and often gets to the root of such feelings.
RESPOND IN PRAYER:
When was the last time you were honest with God about your anger? Don’t be afraid to ask God your big questions. He’s big enough to handle them and prefers honesty over hypocrisy. Be honest with Him about what’s troubling you today.

The Psalms were sung, prayed, and memorized by Jesus. They were a resource for Him and should be for us. While this Plan works best as a resource for Lent, it may be used in any season of life.
